Sore Throat Natural Remedies UPDATE

This is an update to my previous blog post about sore throat home remedies. I feel even more strongly about this one particular home remedy than the others I wrote about before because I've recently in the past few months tried this and it has been like a miracle cure to my sore throat or any mouth or throat problems!
So what is the natural remedy that I speak of so highly? It's coconut oil. Coconut oil is an antimicrobial and it is an amazing oil that can be used to prevent and fight many different ailments.
Quality Coconut Oil contains a high concentration of medium-chain saturated fatty acids like lauric acid. These fight inflammation, are easily digested, and put up a powerful fight against pathogens like bacteria, viruses and fungal infections. In general coconut oil is wonderful for the body, but all of that is for a future post.
Now I want to stress the fact that I've used coconut oil three times for myself and a few times with my kids and it has given me miraculous results. Within one day and two days in my more severe case, my throat problem was completely gone!
If you want to try this natural remedy you should put about 1 or 2 tablespoons in a small glass of hot water or a cup of warm tea and drink it. I use unrefined coconut oil but others swear that the more palatable refined coconut oil has the same fat make up(which is the good part) as unrefined and doesn't have the strong coconut taste to it.
If you are new to coconut oil or have a sensitive system with a likely hood of allergic reactions to things you should start with a lesser amount and then if needed or tolerated well, slowly add more as desired.
I'm telling you it works! Please leave comments if you've had an experience with coconut oil solving your sore throat problems.
Thanks for reading :)

Home Remedies For Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel, which is also called CTS,is characterized by symptoms that may include numbness, tingling, burning, and aching in the thumb, index and middle fingers. In severe cases, pain may shoot from the wrist up the forearm and possibly into the shoulder, the numbness in the fingers and thumb may become constant, and the thumb muscles may waste away, causing a loss of grip strength and coordination.

To understand carpal tunnel it is best to understand how the wrist works. The carpal tunnel is actually a narrow passageway that runs through the wrist. It is only about the size of a quarter but it is packed with nerves, blood vessels, and nine different tendons that control finger movement. Certain repetitive motions and or medical conditions, such as pregnancy, can cause the tendons to swell, squishing the median nerve and decreasing blood flow.

The main and most important remedy for carpal tunnel is actually prevention.Making changes before carpal tunnel becomes more serious of a problem. If you already experience minor tingling, burning or numbness, that could be carpal tunnel syndrom, you may be able to prevent more serious and unreversible damage and even promote healing by making a few changes in your lifestyle. However if you wait until it gets to a more serious stage you could loose all muscle function and need surgery, so it is best to treat symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrom as soon as it is suspected.

On this page I have included some well known home remedies and home excersizes that can significantly help your carpal tunnel syndrom. However, if symptoms are severe or if they do not subside after two weeks of self care, or if they are accompanied by fever, swelling, rash, or any loss of function, contact your docter.

Remedy #1 Keep your wrists flat at night while sleeping. Carpal tunnel symptoms may occur more and worse at night and even wake you from sleep. This can be because your sleeping with wrists curled or crunched up in akward positions. When you lay down at night, try to lay your wrists flat. You can even wear a wrist splint, prescribed by your docter.

Remedy #2 Keep your wrists as comfortable as possible while working, straight, not bent or hunched over. Be constantly aware of your carpal tunnel syndrom, even if symptoms are not showing at the moment, what you do now will affect how bad your symptoms are later.

Remedy #3 Get the right grip on it. Most of us have a tendency to grip with only the thumb, index, and middle fingers, which can increase pressure on the wrist and cause irritation of the corresponding tendons. If you have to grip or twist something, such as the lid of a jar, use your palm or your whole hand to distribute the load.

Remedy #4 Alternate hands. Give your dominant hand a break whenever possible. Try using your other hand to do some tasks.

Remedy #5 Keep certain tools to a minimum. People who use vibrating tools, such as sanders, jackhammers, chisels, chain saws, grinders, riveters, and drills for extended periods appear to be at increased risk of developing wrist problems. If you are one of these folks, take frequent breaks and, when possible, operate the tool at the speed that causes the least vibration.

Remedy #6 Ice it. If you have CTS symptoms, reduce swelling and inflammation by placing an ice pack wrapped in a thin cloth on the wrist and forearm for 5 to 15 minutes two or three times a day. At the same time, however, be sure to take steps to eliminate the cause of the trauma to your wrist.

Remedy #7 Pitch flimsy splints. Some splints, from the pharmacy or local department store, can actually make symptoms worse. Opting for a specially prescribed splint from your doctor is the best option.

Remedy #8 Keep carpal tunnel syndrome in check with exercises. Excercizing the trouble area can loosen tendons, strengthen muscles, and promote healthy blood flow. If excersize makes your symptoms worse, you should stop that particular excersize and try a different one.

Here is a list of doctor recomended excersizes to help your carpal tunnel syndrom.

Wrist Circles: With your palms down and your hands out, rotate both wrists five times in each direction.

Thumb Stretch: Hold out your right hand, and grasp your right thumb with your left hand. Pull the thumb out and back until you feel a gentle stretch. Hold for five to ten seconds, and release. Repeat three to five times on each thumb.

Five-Finger Stretch: Spread the fingers of both hands far apart and hold for five to ten seconds. Repeat three to five times.

Finger-Thumb Squeeze: Squeeze a small rubber ball tightly in one hand five to ten times. Afterward, stretch the fingers. Repeat with the other hand. (If you have high blood pressure, consult your doctor before regularly engaging in this exercise.)

Psoriasis Home Remedies

Psoriasis is a disease in which the skin cells run amok. Normally, skin renews itself in about 30 days—that's the time it takes for a new skin cell to work its way from the innermost layer of skin to the surface. In psoriasis, that cell reaches the top in just 3 days. The result is raised areas of skin called plaques, which are red and often itchy. After the cells reach the surface, they die like normal cells, but there are so many of them the raised patches turn white with dead cells flaking off.

Psoriasis usually goes through cycles. Flare-ups most often occur during winter months. Psoriasis can disappear for months or even years, it can also improve or worsen with age. Pretty much, no one can say what will happen with your psoriasis, which is what makes it so frustrating.

Without a cause, there is no cure. But there are many things you can do to help keep your psoriasis to a minimum. Keep in mind, however, that what works for someone else might not work for you. You have to experiment with psoriasis remedies and decide what works best for you. Here are some home remedies for psoriasis you can try.

My #1 home remedy cure for psoriasis is turmeric(stuff in curry spice). It is an anti-inflammatory. It is also known to work even better mixed with green tea.
Drinking curry spice is not fun, but it works miracles (for a whole host of inflammatory problems including cancer and Alzheimer's).

If you really don't want to drink curry spice then you can also buy Turmeric from health food stores in a pill form or at your local grocery store in bags full (to save money) and take 3-6 pills 500mg daily. Or mix with tea or put in food.

Sweat-Eczema and psoriasis can be significantly reduced with exercise and diet. Work out in the sun and get a sweat going. The sweat will really help reduce the condition naturally and safely.

Cut the sugar-Eczema been linked to Candida fungus. When you eat sugars, it feeds the fungus which causes your body to 'overreact' or become inflamed. Your immune system attacks fungus around your entire body including skin.
Avoid sweets, gluten, dairy or foods with fungus to balance out your intestinal flora. Find out slowly how much sweets, etc you can safely eat without showing symptoms.

Epsom salts- Add a handful of these to your bath to help keep the swelling down and heal your psoriasis.
Mineral oil-
This is another proven skin soother. Add some mineral oil to your bath and soak your aching skin.

Olive oil- Mix 2 teaspoons of olive oil with a large glass of milk and once again adding this to your bath water. Or if you have psoriasis on your scalp, massage warm olive oil on your scaly patches. It will help soften the dead skin and make it easier to remove.

Plastic wrap-
After you cover your patches with moisturizer or prescribed medication, wrap them in plastic wrap to help hold the moisture in. Change the wrapping often.

Vegetable oil- Add a cupful of vegetable oil to your bath water to ease psoriasis.

Apply aloe-
The gel from the aloe vera plant has been known for it's skin soothing properties and for helping the skin heal from wounds or burns. If you want to try aloe you can buy the plant in itself and break open the leaves, and smear the gel over your plaques. For larger areas or a more portable balm, you can purchase a bottle of pure aloe vera gel at many pharmacies or health food stores.

Hangover Remedies

Hangover refers to the after-effects of consuming excessive alcohol. Mostly first time drinkers or occasional drinkers face hangover symptoms more than others who drink more often. Drinking too much or too fast is the primary cause of a hangover.

Everyone who has ever experienced a hangover from too much alcohol knows that they are no fun, to say the least. I have compiled some well known home remedies to help cure a hangover. Most of these home remedies are also natural cures. I opt for the natural cure before any other method.

So let's get right into it:

One of the best natural cures for a hangover is to increase your water intake, both the night before and the next day when you have the symptoms of a hangover. Have you ever noticed that after you drink a lot of alcohol you are really thirsty? You might even wake during the night from being so thirsty and dehydrated. Alcohol dehydrates your body and our body is made up of mostly water this can cause some hangover symptoms.Higher levels of water counter effects the alcohol levels in the body thus curing hangover.

Another really great cure for a hangover would be to increase the intake of Vitamin C. Consume fresh citrus fruit juice in large amounts in the morning to cure hangover.

Lime juice is also beneficial in treating hangover. In 8 ounces of water, add 2 tsp of lime juice and 1 tsp of sugar. Drink this mixture slowly sip by sip. It will help to relieve a a person from a hangover.

Another natural home remedy would be to consume about 1 tablespoon of honey
because honey has high levels of fructose it would be valuable in curing a hangover.

Something that would help to detoxify the body would be to take a hot bath. Try adding some aromatherapy bubble bath or candles around the bathtub to help with relaxation.

My final suggestion would be to eat before, during and after drinking or at least two out of the three. Food will help absorb the alcohol.

Always remember to drink safely and never drive or get in a car with someone after they or you have been drinking. I hope my suggestions help. God Bless.

Home Remedies for Constipation

1. Drink every morning on an empty stomach, warm water mixed with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and half a lemon juice

2. Blanch a teaspoon of thyme in a cup of warm water, add honey, and wait for 3 minutes then drink

3. Saturate plums (or dates) with warm water before you go to bed; drink the water in the morning and eat the plums if you want to

4. Take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar every morning (on an empty stomach) with a glass of water.

5. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of Epsom salt to 1/2 a glass of water and drink right away (bitter but amazing)

6. Drink 2 cups of warm water first thing every morning on an empty stomach.

7.Mix dried figs with plum's concentration, add half a teaspoon of paraffin oil, 1 cup of borsch, honey and lemon and drink.

8.Swallow 2 tablespoons of olive oil on an empty stomach every morning.

Constipation has everything to do with your diet. In many cases you can cure your constipation completely just by changing your diet. Sometimes that's not always easy to do, but very effective. If you don't like vegetables very much try a juice that contains vegetables mixed with fruit so you don't taste it as much. Also, supplements can help if you don't have the best diet. I recommend powdered mixes that you drink rather than a pill.

Fiber is excellent to releive constipation permanantly. Again, use the powdered mixes up to 4 times daily( read packaging details). This was what I personally used to relieve my problems. I currently drink atleast one cup of juice mixed with fiber every day. Specifically psyllium husk fiber worked the best for me.

Drink plenty of water everyday, 2 liters atleast

Other foods to eat are:

Eat alot of dark green vegetables.
Plums and figs
Cooked red beets
Alot of bran and oatmeal
Honey everyday
1 banana everyday
Eat apples
Drink carrot juice
Eat 1/2 a cup of sunflower seeds every day
Eat potatoes daily to help with constipation
