Sore Throat Home Remedies

I know you are here reading to find out what are some remedies for a sore throat but another thing you need to think about is Sore throats are generally caused by viruses such as the common cold or flu, or bacteria such as strep. It could also be from an allergy causing sore throat. The same pollen's and molds that irritate the nose when they are inhaled also may irritate the throat. Cat and dog dander's and house dust are common causes of sore throats for people with allergies to them.

Here are some great ways to treat a sore throat at home-

*Gargle with turmeric and warm water
*Gargle with a mixture of Listerine and hydrogen peroxide
*Apple Cider Vinegar, you can gargle it, swallow it or spit it out but it's good all around.
*Put dissolvable aspirin in warm water gargle for 30 seconds then swallow it.
*Chew pieces of raw onion to relieve a bad cold or sore throat. Onions can destroy germs in the mouth within minutes.
*A warm cup of herbal tea can offer immediate relief from a sore throat. Tea contains antioxidants that are thought to strengthen immunity and ward off infection. For extra benefit add a tsp or two of honey, this will help to coat the throat and offer relief.
*Marshmallows, although there's no hard evidence that it works, sap from the marshmallow plant has been used for hundreds of years, usually in tea form, to treat coughs, colds, and sore throats. And while real marshmallow bears little relation to the puffy campfire treats that took its name, both may have sore throat-fighting properties.
According to anecdotal reports, modern-day marshmallows can help ease sore throat pain, possibly because the gelatin coats and soothe

In about 10% of cases of sore throat in adults antibiotics are needed for the sore throat to go away. This is usually due to a bacterial infection. Of course along with all of these natural cures plenty of fluids and lots of rest is necessary for a full and fast recovery.
If things don't clear up in 7 days see your doctor.
